Movie Research : Murder Mystery
Hello blog !!
What conventions of the genre that you choose to base your final task on does this movie have?
This movie uses conventions like creating a tense environment before someone gets killed. It also leaves a bunch of clues for the main character to follow before finally solving the murder. Camera angles, movements and shots that I'm noticing are tracking shots, closeups, two shots, and over the shoulder shots. There is a lot of dialogue and diegetic sound. I also see a use of darker lighting. The reveal of the murder weapon was shocking and surprising as well.
What conventions of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
I liked the tracking shots and close-ups. I also liked the use of dark lighting because it helps make things suspenseful. I like the diegetic sound because it can be so many things like screams or sirens or banging.
What conventions of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you and you are thinking of not filming for your final task?
I didn't like the excessive use of close ups. I think a few times is okay but when its overly used it takes away the impact of the shot.
